I have gotten a few questions lately about my make-up routine and what products I use. I love doing makeup so I couldn’t wait to get on here and share all of my product details//little tips and tricks with you!! Make-up for me is fun however I know some ladies get overwhelmed with what products to use and how to apply them, so now worries ladies….keep reading! I am posting a photo and linking everything I use for you below!
So let’s dive in! Aside from a great nightly cleansing routine, the most important important piece to a flawless look is primer!! Primer is so important for setting the skin and really giving you even coverage and an easy application. Without it, sometimes we get that cakey look and it can be a little more difficult applying foundation properly. I have started using Too Faced “Hangover 3-In-1 Replenishing primer & Setting Spray” and I love it. For me I prefer a spray because it dries quicker apposed to a cream based primer which can sometimes make you oily. This one can be used as a primer, a setting spray after your makeup is finished and can be used throughout the day to refresh the skin.
*Fun fact..I like to spray my beauty blender with the primer to dampen it and apply my foundation. This helps the foundation go on SO incredibly smooth!*
Next is our foundation! A few months ago I started using the Fenty Beauty foundation (Mainly because I have a real obsession with Rihanna) but now a few months in, I refuse to use anything else!! I have pretty neutral skin so it really gives me the matte finish that I love so much. For my oily girls, you would love this because it is so matte and should help prevent oiliness. It is so lightweight but it only takes a small amount to cover my face. I use shade 260! Trust me, it’s a must try!
So some women like to apply foundation and then do their eyes, or do their eyes first all together. However, I am NOT that girl!! Let me explain…I like to prime and then apply foundation, concealer, translucent powder over my concealed places THEN move on to the eyes! Here is why. If you apply your foundation first and move directly on to your eyes then any fallout from your eyeshadow will stick to that foundation and can get pretty messy when trying to correct it, also if you all together do your eyes first then I noticed that it is harder to blend your eye shadows if you use multiple colors. Which is why I like to follow the routine I mentioned above. I like to apply my foundation and concealer first because I apply the foundation and concealer to my eyes also to give my eyelids a bright start. I then apply my Laura Mercier translucent powder over any place that I have concealed to matte the look and give it a powdery finish on the eyes so applying any eye shadow should be a breeze.
*Another fun fact** Let your translucent powder sit for 2-5 minutes over top of your concealer. It’s called “baking” it soaks up and oils and also really sets your concealer so it doesn’t move. I do this in the morning and at the end of the day it looks like it did when I first applied it**
I also go ahead and apply my Bite Beauty “Agave Lip Mask” which is a leave-on lip mask that replenishes moisture in the lips. Especially important this time of year!!!
Next, moving on to the eyes (my favorite part) I have been using the Morphe “Jaclyn Hill” palette since I purchased it months ago. There are 38 COLORS to choose from and the pigmentation is unbelievable making it so easy to apply and blend. I start with a nude for the outer eyelid right above the brow bone. This is used as a setting color and what I will use to come back and blend it all once finished. It is the 3rd color from the left on the top row. Then I move on to the outer crease. I use a pretty brown (4th row, far right color) and in circular motions blend this color on the outer crease moving in over half of the lid. I also use this same color along the bottom water line, tying it into that outer crease. Once that is good and blended I take a flat brush and mix a bronze and gold shimmer color for the lid (mix 2nd row far right color and 4th row/4th from the left color) I place this all over the lid until it is has a pretty subtle shimmer. I then take that first nude color and blend together the crease of the eye. Once that is done I apply a white shimmer to the inner corner of the eye to really make it pop (top row, second color). I then apply my eyeliner (I prefer liquid but to each her own and then my mascara on upper and lower lashes!
I then apply my bronzer! Time to contour the easy way ladies! I apply Hoola Matte bronzer in what I can “C” motions. From the forehead around and right under the cheek bones. Get it? C’s? Then I also apply along my jawline to really pull it out. The main thing to remember is to ALWAYS blend it out. If you don’t you will look like a pumpkin with harsh harsh lines….we don’t want that!
I then use any all over powder to blend everything out and give it an even contoured look!! Then the finale…the highlight. My motto “Highlight to Heaven”!! I recently purchased the Anastasia Beverly Hills Sugar Glow Palette and you guys it’s amazing! That’s all there is to say. I highlight from the end of my eyebrow and right along the cheek bone making a V motion. Then I will do a slight highlight on the tip of my nose and across my cupids bow on my upper lip.
You can then apply your favorite lips..my favorite has always been NYX liner in Beige and Mac Viva Glam II lipstick!!
